Showering… Well that’s a new adventure in not getting injured! Water, slippery surface, a dash of soap, and the inability to balance! Well, let’s just say my getting ready has become so much more than business as usual.
I have a handheld shower option and it turns out that is a wonderful tool to at least let me feel somewhat human. My hair though…
Long hair is a lot when you’re doing well so I knew that was going to have to go. I’m actually pretty open to changing my hairstyles often and playing around. This still had a weird feeling about it. It’s like cutting away the old to make way for the new.
I cut my hair knowing it grows back. What I don’t know is the path to how it will grow and that is exactly the same as my path to recovery.
I have this new start and no experience. There are going to be twists and turns I never expected. I’m sure at some point there will be tangles and knots. Probably even having to go backwards to reshape before growing forward again. In the end, something new will have been created. Unexpected and no way to predict.
So yeah, this was much more than just a haircut.
